FAQ
WHEN IS ROUGH CUTS?
Rough Cuts meets the first Wednesday of the month(with some exceptions, join our mailing list to be notified). We've got some plans in the works for more special events as well.
WHAT'S THE FORMAT?
Each presenter gets a total of 15 minutes to show their film and get critique from the group. When it's your turn, you stand up, tell everyone what you're showing, what you did and what kind of feedback you're looking for before showing us your undoubtedly awesome work.
We highly recommend showing a maximum length of 10 minutes to allow time for critique and discussion. We can all sit at home and watch films alone - it's the community dialog that we really show up for.
HOW DO I PLAY MY FILM?
Bring your film via a hard drive (Mac OS) or via a link. We will call your name when you are up next so that you can get your film set up.
HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT FILMS WILL PLAY?
It is worth noting that we do not curate the films, we are not screening the films before hand.
At our monthly screenings, we show the work of people who are in the audience with us. We strive to have a diverse representation of people, voices, backgrounds, and experience levels. We typically show 8 films under 10mins. We reserve half (4) spots for minority filmmakers. We also strive for a diversity of projects, which means we are not planing to show 8 music videos.
WHAT KINDS OF FILMS CAN WE SHOW?
Anything! Short form work plays best, as showing 10 minutes of a feature film is hard to give critique on. Common types of work shown are commercial ads, music videos, short narrative films and documentaries.
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE SHOW THEIR FILMS?
SEASONED VETERANS. STUDENTS. PRODUCTION COMPANY OWNERS. EDITORS. WRITERS. PRODUCERS. ACTORS. DIRECTORS. HOBBYISTS. DPs.
ALL ARE WELCOME.
